The Stretch Method

The stretch carpet installation method includes strips of wood that are nailed or glued around the edges of the room. The nails on the strips of wood hold the carpet in place as it is stretched to lay flat. This method includes padding beneath the carpet, providing more comfort underfoot and the benefits of insulation.

The Glue Down Method

The glue down carpet installation method glues the carpet directly to the floor, rather than using wood strips around the edges. This method usually holds up well in heavy traffic areas and is usually the less expensive option, but does not provide as much comfort and insulation as the stretch method.
